Dwyane Webster Memorial DWAYNE WEBSTER VETERAN’S PARK LOVELAND, COLORADO On December 7, l940. seventeen year old Dwayne, with his father’s permission, joined the United States Navy. One year later,  December 7, 1941, Seaman 2nd Class Webster while serving aboard the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii became Loveland’s  first casualty in the attack that drew the United States into World War II. Private Joe P. Martinez Located at the Weld County Veterans’ Memorial Park in Greeley, Colorado and at the Liberty Park in Ault, Colorado. In 1942 Joe P. Martinez was among the first draftees to be inducted into the U.S. Army in WWII. He became a Pvt and was assigned to Company K, 32 Infantry, 7th Infantry Division. Joe’s Company shipped out of Seattle on April 13, 1943. Enemy was entrenched on Attu a small island in the Aleutian Chain.  Pinned down by severe on going hostile fire Joe charged uphill urging his comrades to follow.  Joe’s  iconic shout born of necessity, natural leadership. and courage. resounded across the tundra that day....
